Three 14 Bed Community Residences

This mid block site is bordered on one side by a 5 story brick apartment building and on the other by a one story car repair shop, painted yellow.

The prototype works well to mediate between the different heights and tonalities of these buildings. The two toned, one story, brick wall connects the one story base of the adjacent apartment building with the one story wall of the commercial building. The massing of the bedroom wing successfully nestles in the L-shaped space left by the neighboring apartment buildings.

The garden, an important programmatic component, takes advantage of sunlight and air provided by the open space in the center of the traditional New York City block.
